A customer who came to our store today said, "Even though you seem like you're not thinking about anything, you're actually thinking about a lot of things."
I think the fact that it looks like it hasn't been thought out and is just done casually is just right.
Now then…
I was told today that an original masking tape of Usagi and Me was up for auction on Yahoo! Auctions. All sorts of things happen every day.
Come to think of it, I've also received phone inquiries asking, "It's limited edition, isn't it...?" so I wonder if someone like that is selling it.
There was a time before when he was used as a trade target, but this seems like a completely different incident.
I posted it on Facebook and got a lot of comments.
It seems that our customers have the same mixed feelings as us, which is a great thing.
It seems that many people use them carefully, or leave them unopened.
We never expected that our products would be put up for sale on Yahoo! Auctions.
Well, I learned a lot about the balance between supply and demand and pricing, and I also felt that even people who don't particularly like the store appreciate that the products I make are of a certain quality, so I'm happy about that.
However, all of the products in the shop are planned, designed, and ordered by the owner himself (with permission from his wife), so it takes quite a long time to create them into products while also running the cafe and selling beans.
Masking tape and labels were also ordered separately and attached by hand.
It's not that I'm particularly thinking, "If I make something like this, it will sell," but rather I make it while imagining the customers who come regularly, thinking, "I bet they'd be happy if they had something like this..." or "It would be just like Usaboku-san..."
We are not a manufacturer but an individual store, so that is the basis of our business.
It's like face-to-face interactions, and products are an opportunity to deepen relationships with customers.
I think our customers probably share the same background as us, and that's why they feel the same frustration about this situation as we do.
They really understand the value of things that go beyond just the masking tape.
I really felt that I was loved.
I also think that if you make it, it will sell, so you should just make it...
I'm not thinking about increasing profits at all costs, I just hope that they will increase as a result of ``Usaboku-san's work.''
He's not the type of character that's aggressive or greedy...
There are still customers who like the store and want masking tape, so I think it might be a good idea to make it, but at the same time, when I think about how the proportion of sales that don't involve "As expected of Usaboku-san" will increase, I can't help but think about it.
I guess it's just a matter of whether you can accept it, but it's quite difficult to come to terms with it.
I think this will be an issue to consider for a while.
So, I've written a lot, but for now I'm thinking of putting the remaining 2-3 pieces of masking tape I have in my shop for wrapping on Yahoo! Auctions for about 5000 yen.
