September sales have ended.
It has been five years since we started operating as Usagi to Boku.
People think that Usagi and I take a lot of time off.
This may seem surprising, but in the past yearThe store is not closed except for regular holidays and holidays announced in advance for seminars, etc..
Due to poor health, the couple was unable to meet and there were many days when the coffee shop was closed, but the shop itself remained open. This was no problem for customers who came just to buy beans.
Amazingly, the store is not closed.
However, many people think that the main function of the store is as a coffee shop, so they tend to think that "if the coffee shop is not open, it is closed."
Looking at customers' posts, we often see people uploading photos of the store on social media with comments like, "The store was closed, so I just bought some cider."
That would be entering the store, and if it were closed it would be trespassing... but it seems that the general perception is that it is closed.
So, it's a matter of being careful with the words we use, but we've tried to avoid using the word "closed" as much as possible so as not to give the store a negative impression.
If the cafe is closed, products will only be sold in store.
When customers ask, "Are you closed?", we reply, "We are only open for in-store purchases."
On the other hand, on days when the cafe is open, write "We also operate a cafe."
The default is the in-store sale date.
Opening a cafe is not something that should be taken for granted, but rather a special occasion.
On my profile on Twitter and other social media, I make sure to state that the cafe is open irregularly.
If the weather is good, the cafe will also be open. There is no intention to operate it irregularly, and the stance is the same as before.
There is no difference for regular customers, who will be checking the homepage of our website before coming to the store, but we have changed the wording to avoid giving the impression that we are closed.
Usagi and I feel that if we just run a shop that basically sells biscuits and cider from the front of the store, and occasionally operates as a cafe, it would be more peaceful for us, our customers and everyone involved.
I don't think it's normal for any store to be open all the time...
I hope to continue doing things in a relaxed manner without any pressure.
